2026年9月，麻省理工学院交通实验室公布公共交通智能平台项目，获得Google.org提供的210万美元支持。项目计划把车辆位置、站点状态、运营调度和乘客信息等原本分散的数据连接起来，为控制中心工作人员提供更完整的实时视图，帮助处理延误、拥挤和突发事件。

平台名为公共交通智能枢纽，拟结合预测模型、优化算法和大语言模型的情境分析能力。现实中的公交和轨道交通决策往往同时影响多条线路与大量乘客，单看一个屏幕或一条无线电信息，很难掌握全局。因此，项目重点是让信息在不同系统之间顺畅流动，并为工作人员提供可比较的处理方案。该研究计划持续三年，还将获得工程和产品专家支持。团队强调，最终运营决定仍由交通人员作出，因为现场需要权衡多方需求，没有一个固定答案适用于所有情况。项目将以实际调度协作与信息传递效果，检验人工智能在公共服务中的价值。
